Yes I know, another water picture but you know I love them.
As soon as I saw this beautifully clear water and the gorgeous distorted rock shapes, I knew there was a print in there somewhere. I was excited to get the perfect photo while not slipping on the rocks and drowning my phone.
I work directly from my photo which is flipped. My studio set up usually looks like this.
The image on the lino is the same way as the flipped photo but the hanging drying prints are the right way round.
I start with a simple drawing on my lino then cut each colour as I go. Starting by cutting the white shimmers. I printed the palest blue first
then a sky and another pale blue/green
4th the fluorescent yellow/green
5 another blue
6 a green and 7 the first headland,
detail of colours building up
green ink on lino, my printing set up
8th colour a paler grey/green
9th next headland 10th olive green
11th a grey/blue across the whole sea
12th a darker grey/blue 13th last headland
13 detail on headland
the lino
last colour 14 a dark blue/green
