So I'd heard about this rockpool but I'd never been. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon, late September and the tide was out. Even so I have to admit I got pulled about in the surf on the way round and got a bit scared, prob more for my phone I was soaked by the time we found it. But all good and I got my photos.

In front an amazing deep green pool and a sparkly sea.
Behind the sun was hitting the rocks and the shadows and colours were reflected on the surface and underneath the water.

I chose this photo below as the one I wanted to cut.
It is the most abstract of my pics with only a tiny bit of rock top left. Difficult to see what's going on, but the colours and patterns are wonderful and I wanted to try something a bit different

My drawing on the lino and the first cuts of the light patterns catching the sand on the bottom of the pool

first 3 colours

4 and 5 first blue and another green

6,7 & 8 a green a sage and an orange

9 a second blue

10, 11 a brown and a grey

12 & 13 another brown and a green

14 & 15 dark brown for the rock and reflection and a pink seaweed

just a detail of all the cuts and colours

16 another brown in the water

17 a deep blue grey

now the lino is looking like this

and this is how I work through the colours I just draw on what I want to cut out in the white crayon as I go.

18 a very dark green

19 & 20 a very dark brown in the water and a light green on the right

21 last colour an almost black to finish, oh and then I did put a mottled green print onto the dark water on the left which worked.
