I took this photo back in July, walking back up from a lovely evening family picnic on the beach near Pendeen.
I love the way the last rays of sunshine catch the grasses and flowers on the hillside. That was my challenge for this print.
I began with a simple line drawing onto the lino.
then cut out everything I wanted to keep white ( the colour of the paper) this bit always amazes me as it's not until a few layers of colour have gone on that you appreciate your first cut.
First layer of colour a yellow and a pink in one go.
followed by an orange all over for the sky and stems and grasses.
lots of cutting and two layers of greens
more cutting and two layers of blue and a grey for the rocks
then the scary bit which would either ruin everything or work, the dark brown printed all over my carefully cut hillside.
I'm happy and here it is up for sale.
